Mesopotamian/ Egyptian Era
Mesopotamian (3500 B.C.E. - 539 B.C.E.):
Mesopotamian artwork mostly consists of sculpting out of durable clay, and a bit of painting. Often times, there was focus on plants and the paintings were symmetrical. My representations is based on a layered-style seen in the famous Standard of Ur, which says so much about the political and social structure of Mesopotamian society.

I created this piece by using the Rectangular Marquee tool to create the layers, the Pattern Overlay to give the Rock Effect, and the use of brushes, with which I drew the images, saved them as brushes, and then applied them to this document. I turned the figures so that they are facing each other using the rectangular marquee tool
Egyptian art consisted of impressive structures and paintings, especially one that focused on the divine or the after life. Much of the surviving art is found inside or on the walls of tombs, as the Egyptians had a firm belief in the afterlife and needing objects in the after life, so their burial sites were highly decorated. Also, the sarcophaguses, in which the people were set after they had been mummified, are also very detailed with rather beautiful designs and relatively realistic faces. Much of their painting are symbolic, telling stories or describing past evetns in history, and images are usually coupled with the writing form, hieroglyphics. Ancient Egyptian pictures are known for the foreward-facing heads and turned bodies.
